Ruby Rhod is one of my favorite characters in sci-fi ever because he is Luc Besson’s vision of the hetero sex symbol of the future: a flamboyant, emotionally labile man who wears skin-tight leopard print or decks himself in roses, a man who accessorizes with big jewelry and dabbles in cosmetics. And the ladies love him. Everything about him screams “gay” according to our stereotypes, but he’s portrayed as a 100% straight sexual dynamo.

Besson is one of the few directors I’ve seen who actually recognizes that our ideas of sexuality and gender performance might have changed drastically in the future.

Then Sherlock acted very vulcan, divorcing himself from emotions, and a doctor mocked him, calling him Spock.

Then Sherlock appeared in Star Trek.

what to wear when…tinkering with time. crud clogs the cogs of life sometimes and time grinds to a still. this starts slowly though. the length of a day is dragged out by twenty-six sluggish seconds, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick. an eyelash-thin slit cracks open in time; smells of centuries past waft through it, or a lantern-flash from a ship long since lost at sea. people’s skin prickles as they feel the unnameable unhinging of the earth. they shudder as timelines overlap and crunch over one another like temporal tectonic plates. that’s when the time-mechanic climbs between life’s creaking gears. her body is boxy and solid. she has a lumpy stomach perfect for pillowing her weight while pressed against metal slabs for hours, her nearby nimble fingers playing fix-it. her forehead has a deep crease down the middle, etched by eras of frowny focusing. grimy minutes pried from life’s tines are caked under her nails. with an instrument that looks like some stretched-out shoehorn with a groove running through it, she sucks up the troublesome jetsam jamming the cogs of space and time. she chokes on a wayward week, wheezes, and spits it out in three-hour clots. she unscrews universes and cleans the clockwork behind life until it shines. when she is done, the earth spins on its axis as it should. time clicks back on track. the mechanic grins, her grease-streaked, pudgy cheeks lunging up to meet her eyes, her heart ticking in tune with the ancient machinery above her.

The Anonymous member who gathered and released the social media evidence against the rapists could face up to 10 years in prison for doing so. The 2 rapists that were convicted only got 2 years each. This is a cheap, long, flaired out maxi dress I got from a small store near my house. It is a MEDIUM. You see when buying clothes, never underestimate the power of stretch. The stretchy material helps but what really helps is all the excess fabric and the wide flair at the bottom. It was meant to be a long, loose dress on a smaller woman BUT longer garments make up for small sizes. Because I’m so big I take up more of the shirt, making it shorter. With a long dress you will not run out of fabric for your belly and if you hike it up the flair at the bottom accommodates your larger midsection! Bottom line…
